Our roadmap is located in đź“ś - this list is not fully extensive, so expect some updates along the way

The Naughty List doesn’t have a conventional rarity structure. Rather than use a rarity table with percentages differentiating via traits, we are focusing on the scarcity of assets and names driving value. If the project is successful, we will expand the total number of names supported. If your name is not included, we encourage you to message us so that it can be included in future explorations.

One of the co-founders has a fairly unique, non-Anglo name and shared an anecdote that shaped the project. Growing up and going on field trips to museums, gift shops never had anything for the co-founder’s name. T-shirts, novelty license plates and keychains all had more common Anglo-names. It was crummy to be left out. So we decided to use this as an anchor to shape our thinking.

We problem-solved at great length to determine how many names total and what names should be included. Our methodology was as follows. We began by looking at the top countries globally where NFTs are traded. We then looked at the languages spoken in these countries. We then referenced government databases from these countries to find the top names for children from the 1960s-2000. This window of time also supports the median ages of NFT purchasers. Our hope is to strike the right balance of data-driven decision making and a more inclusive representation of names.

  • A Coal NFT =
  • • An opportunity to invest in your name
  • • A guarantee of charitable donation
  • • A whitelist to future projects
  • • An entrypoint into NFT collecting
  • • A pass to joining the project’s community and unlocking its perks and benefits
  • • A chance to win various gifts

Depending upon people’s interests and the overall success of the project, we plan to donate to charities focused on environmental issues to offset the carbon footprint of the project. Additionally we plan to support projects that help dogs, cats, and all our furry friends - even when they are naughty, they are always good boys and girls ❤️

It’s good to openly acknowledge that you’re naughty. It’s the first step in the right direction. We’ll take the second step for you and make a donation to a good cause.

We love the holidays and wanted to create a project that gives people the opportunity to give the gift of NFTs. The coal is a playful way to give someone their first NFT. Just like real coal, ours can turn to diamond over time for holders. But unlike the environmental issues associated with actual coal, we like that Santa’s NFT coal is supported by Polygon - eliminating gas fees and reducing the current ugly carbon footprints of other cryptocurrencies. The NFT space to date is overshadowed by the nastiness of gas fees and energy consumption. We’re happy that our project can exemplify a different path forward. We also love the idea of providing people the opportunity to own their name. The Naughty List is a familiar convention that lends itself nicely to our ambitions.

This is a longtail project for us. Santa’s Workshop plans on making many more affiliated holiday-themed projects. That’s why we are growing everything slowly and organically. We aren’t funded. We don’t have backers. We don’t have a budget. We want to try something that is a few steps removed from how other projects operate. Rather than minting, rarity tables, and complex roadmaps, we are keeping this simple by design. In essence, own your name and the value might grow over time. Whether we sell a few coal or all of them, we will use a substantial portion of the proceeds to do genuine good during the holidays.

This is our first NFT project. We are learning together. We want to decorporatize the space and stay indie. We want to do something interesting that doesn’t hurt the environment and possibly raise money for charity

  • For people who have never bought an NFT before
  • For people who want to gift an NFT to someone who is new to the space
  • For people who want to see what will happen owning this over the years
  • For people who want to contribute to a project that promotes collective giving

Of course, we would love to hear any feedback or suggestions, and will try to address/implement as many as we can! Email us or send us a message on IG, Twitter, or Discord.

We are concerned by how this space is already getting overly controlled and shaped by big brands, VCs, banks, and other problematic institutions. If this is supposed to be a decentralized space, we need to move away from large banks and existing power structures shaping and influencing NFT communities, crypto, the metaverse, etc. We want to inject fun, absurdity and kindness into this burgeoning world. That is why we went with Polygon, plan to work with charities, and want to give back to our community.
